 Resorption and recession after tooth lost have been a major problem in esthetic implant dentistry; this is especially true in case with multiple missing teeth, high smile line, thin bio type and esthetic demanding patient. So far, no any grafting procedure can avoid the problem completely, even in the patient with thick bio type, even after multiple grafting treatments, the papilla, the color, texture, profile of the gum will never look the same as mother nature. 

  Socket shield technique provides a promising solution for the burden. By preserving a shield of buccal root, we preserve the blood supply from PDL which nourishing the bucccal plate, and prevent further recession of the gingival margin and papilla. 

  During the lecture we will see the result of socket shield technique, discuss about the key points of the technique, and the possible complications.
